TEACHER: There is no question of bitterness or small-mindedness in the dealings of advanced Vaishnavas. Actually, even though Sri Krishna Chaitanya, Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and other powerful preachers of Vaishnavism are critical of Shankaracharya’s philosophy, it should be understood that they simultaneously have the utmost respect for him. Even though he spread the doctrine of illusion and thus covered over the Absolute Truth with impersonalism, they do not hold him to blame for this.
