This second mantra of the yogic scripture Sri Ishopanishad refers to karma yoga, or devotional service:
A person may desire to live for hundreds of years if he works according to this truth because that sort of work will not bind him to the law of karma. And there is no alternative to this way for man.

It was nearly mid-spring, so the trees bore not only fragrant blossoms but also immature fruits. Bees were everywhere, taking the pollen from the blossoms and carrying it back to their hives somewhere off in the distance. Around many of the trees lay a recently-deposited circle of chicken manure and rotten hay. On the side of the orchard which had been mulched and manured, the stench overwhelmed the fragrance of the blossoms, and although the bees didn’t seem to mind, Michael headed back to the area which had not yet been fertilized. As he walked back, Steven, approached him from the opposite direction.
”
TEACHER sent me for you. He’s waiting on the veranda with the others. “
”Will you also be joining us, Steven?”
”Yeah, we’ve all been invited to sit in on your conversation, so I’ll put aside my chores until tomorrow morning.
TEACHER thought that all of us would be interested, so he said we could come if we desired.”
As they came closer to the house, Michael could see
TEACHER seated in his chair and the others sitting on the deck of the veranda. When Steven came within view of
TEACHER, he stopped momentarily to offer his obeisances, as Michael had seen him do on other occasions. Michael sat by the stairs on the edge of the veranda, and as Steven sat next to him, he noticed two stacks of books on the small table next to
TEACHER’s chair. Most of the books were fairly old ones and had numerous place markers sticking out from their well-worn pages.
